When Monkeys Fly

flyingmonkey

Hi, this is John Paul Mendocha, Dr. Speedselling™.  I want to welcome you to my audio blog, When Monkey’s Fly. I came up with the name simply because I’ve seen so many business schemes and ideas that only made sense that when somebody said, "Well and then monkey’s fly—it all works out."  It’s my tongue in cheek way of saying too many people are hoping for a miracle instead of good solid work.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself and then about the blog. First I’ve been selling and entrepreneuring and dealing with the human condition, if you will, for a long time, multiple decades, 30 plus years. Been selling since the youngest age I can remember. It’s something I have a really good talent for, but talent only takes you so far.

I’m obsessed learning about things. I read between 50 and 100 magazines, periodicals, newspapers—I’m talking about physical ones, a month. Stuff kind of just stacks up in my office and I've got to deal with all that.

I'm Intensely interested in business and how business works and how transactions work and how customers work. I know a lot about how to help people get the best out of their business, the most out of their business. I don’t like to think about boxes inside or outside.  Just obliterate the concept of a box, in my opinion, because really what it is is talking about some kind of limitation. I mean the size, if you will, is only as large as we have the capability of.

We really have an unlimited ability to innovate in sales and marketing and yet rarely do we ever take it very far. I mean the farthest most people go is they find one thing that works and then they're scared to death, and they don’t want to change it.

Trying to really come up with a mechanism by which,  and this is bluntly what I’m all about, is how to find new clients that match up with what I can do and how I can help people. I've helped people make millions of dollars in their businesses. Hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of dollars for individuals. Helped newbie’s, helped people who thought they knew it all.

I'm doing the audio blog primarily because I’m a raging verbalist. I talk a lot. I spend a lot of time doing those kinds of things, you know, I guess the ultimate fantasy would be to have a computer that I actually could talk to and it would just put up my words and not screw them up. I know there’s voice recognition. I’ve tried a bunch of them, I can tell you there’s lots of limitations in that technology because whenever you talk to the people who do it (and I by the way I have sought out and talked to the developers of this stuff.) They always tell you, “Well, but John, you have to understand how the system works.” Well, see, that means I have to change how I do things. Nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with learning new ways, it’s the question of are you willing to put in the time and effort and energy, and can you do that and still do what you need to do.

This blog is designed for a really important aspect of business, and that is, how does somebody really get out of the fantasy world and make some serious money and get some serious things done.

So start listening, start commenting, tell me what you want to hear about. Yeah maybe I’ll listen, who knows? And all I can say is, you should never build a business plan that is dependant upon when monkey’s fly, because as far as I know, they can’t. Maybe they did in the Wizard of Oz, but they can’t.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and hate to be the person who says, "Hey, you know John, isn’t that part of innovation? Finding a creative way?"  Yeah I agree you've got to find a creative way. On the other side, you have to find customers and you have to do transactions, end of story.

So with that, let me wrap up this introduction by leaving you with one final thought. I believe that if you want to become successful in life you have to be a really serious about what you do and what I mean by that, because I’ve said it before and people go, “Oh, you know, what does that really mean?”  —is that if you want to be successful, if you truly want to make things happen,  you've got to get up everyday and you've got to put on your outfit, your uniform, whatever it is, and you got to go out and give it your best shot.

You've got to do the "A" game all the time. You can’t slough off, you can’t run half way, because what will happen is that the world will know. You’ll know. Everyone will know in some form or fashion. The lousy service that you see out there is symptomatic of people who have decided that "Yeah, they can’t just kind of slog along."

Take care, I wish you tremendous success, and all I can say is go out there and sell something and make it happen.
